We began Network Abundance in the Summer of 2007 and launched our first publication, NoNicheTM in early October of the same year. NoNicheTM became an overnight web-success as our small production crew struggled to keep up with the new phenomena that we had created.
We raised the bar a couple times & came close to falling flat on our face a couple times more. Despite overwhelming obstacles: We kept going, endured, paid forward and reaped the benefits.
- First. We determined, starting out, that there was value in what we were offering when we created publications that combined all of the rich aspects of our reader's lives (from Econ to LOA) all in one place, with limited, congruent and quality assured advertising. We originally (and rightfully) chose not to offer long-term or perpetual subscriptions and relied on reader contributions of only $1.99 per issue.
- Second. We produced commercial quality magazines in what we coined as an "eco-friendlier' online only environment. Early on we decided to walk our talk - even behind closed doors! In doing so, we strictly held to the principles of 'non-waste' and we reduced our own paper usage by over 90% in just a few weeks - a statistic we have upheld now for more than one year - we don't even print drafts or proofs.... everything is done completely online! We also discontinued most of our paper-based print magazine and newspaper subscriptions (a difficult shift in our own paradigm).
- Third. We sought out extreme talent, healthy contributors and (sometimes) provocative ideas from emerging thought leaders - later to find that what was provocative in Dec 2007 became mainstay news by May 2008 (ex., economic issues)
NoNicheTM endured, gaining increased respect, popularity and exponential applause from the publishing and PR industry & gained an exclusive calling among media insiders searching for new talent. Subsequent publications, ER.U.DI.TIONTM & ZiNE MasterTM fared well, but the public's need for NoNicheTM became evident very quickly.
With the increasing appeal of our professional publishing process and our willingness to showcase diversity in content at a levels that couldn't be found anywhere else - all in one place - we combined all of the best features of all three publications into IDEA MASTERS: a real time - online magazine where "ideas powered by people come first".
Here's a brief history of some of our accomplishments to date:
In July 2007 we began the process of developing eco-friendlier online magazines that were commercial quality.
In October 2007 we launched the first of three commercial quality online magazines and successfully designed and marketed professionally produced monthly, quarterly and semi-annual options with three distinct flavors.
In December 2007 we premiered our Pro-Broadcasted weekly radio show through LIVE 365 and provided our interview guests and featured contributors with heightened SEO in addition to promotional exposure for their businesses.
In January 2008 we were told we were ahead of our time when we moved to a virtual flipping pages platform, in addition to our PDF publications. Through ongoing focus groups and reader feedback we found that readers preferred the PDF only version of our publications, in part, due to a lack of familiarity with the use of 'virtual paper' - which we believe will replace most printed publications in the coming decade - saving an exponential level of precious resources used in the paper-printing, distribution and recycling process.
In August 2008, we made a renewed commitment to eco-friendlier publishing and voluntarily pulled our popular Network Abundance Radio from the international airwaves to focus solely on our core publishing objectives.
We had planned to return to a PDF only version of our "virtually printed" publications until the general public became more comfortable with virtual paper technology.
Yet - our research among readers and would-be readers indicated that we needed to continue to 're-invent' the publication of tomorrow and continue to influence the traditional publishing industry - by moving completely to an online and free content forum.
Our research also indicated that too many online, solo and entrepreneurs were being swallowed up in a vast sea of free article databases that were less about content and more about advertising. We developed a solution and began designing the next phase in our online evolution and eco-friendlier publishing revolution.
In October 2008, merely one year after we designed the original NoNicheTM magazine we initiated the pre-launch of Idea Masters and began defining our next phase as an online publisher & promoter.
In less than one year:
- We made a core commitment to eco-friendlier practices & we succeeded.
- We made an early commitment to highly congruent low-ad to content ratios and turned advertisers away when necessary.
- We developed the processes necessary to produce unsurpassed premium quality online magazines and we succeeded.
- We also wanted to connect and provide affordable advertising opportunities for professionals in a high touch and highly SEO'd environment and we are making a differece.
In early January 2009 we'll launch the beginning of the next phase in online advertising and informational product distribution that is destined to replace the way you think about your online presence and advertising investment of time and money in the future.
